New Member Organiser - Helps You Make the Switch!

The ASU Office is pleased to welcome Jill Westhorp, ASU Workplace Representative employed at Kidney Health Australia, as a new ASU Member Organiser.

For over a year your ASU Office has been seconding Workplace Representatives from their employment to work as Member Organisers at the ASU Office for three month periods. The Member Organiser Programme has been a great success with Member Organisers working with members and other members of the ASU staff team to grow our Union across a number of industries. Member Organisers have reported that the Member Organiser Programme has been greatly rewarding and has enabled them to take important skills and knowledge back to their own workplaces. In three cases Member Organisers have subsequently been employed at the ASU Office.

New Member Organiser Jill Westhorp speaks about her role as ASU Workplace Representative and Member Organiser:

"For the last couple of years I have been working in the Call Centre of Kidney Health Australia and have been an active ASU Workplace Representative in my workplace for nearly all this time. I was Federal Delegate for the CPSU whilst previously employed in the Federal Government for many years; it is like coming home to get back into the movement. As an ASU Member Organiser I will be working on shifting members from paying Union fees by payroll deduction to paying Union fees by credit card or direct debit. In light of the current threats to our ability to pay our Union's fees by payroll deduction I am hoping to get our Union's work of transferring 3000 members from payroll deduction to direct debit or credit card going."
