Former ASU official to Chair IR Taskforce

Brendan O'Connor Federal Member for Gorton, a former ASU Assistant National Secretary is chairing the Labor IR Taskforce which has begun inquiring into the adverse effects of the Howard Government's Work Choices legislation on families and communities.

The Labor IR taskforce made up of nine Labor caucus members will visit states and territories gathering information not only from people who missed out on putting their views to the one week Senate Inquiry last year but to also hear from others who have begun to experience the real harshness of this legislation.

The inquiry has already had its first meeting and we believe it will soon start hearings and meetings in Tasmania on 30 & 31 January 2006.

We expect the full schedule of inquiry dates and community meetings to be available soon - so watch out for further information.
