Position Vacant - Industrial Officer (SA)

There is an Industrial Officer position with the South Australian and Northern Territory Branch of the Union. The position is based in Adelaide.

The Australian Services Union represents administrative and professional workers in local government, energy, community services, transport, retail, finance, call centres, airlines and numerous private sector businesses. The Industrial Officer will work in the Industrial Team and will

  • prepare and run matters in the State Industrial
  • Relations Commission, Fair Work Australia, Industrial Court and other tribunals
  • negotiate collective agreements with members and other ASU staff
  • assist individual members and small groups of members in a range of industrial matters
  • identify opportunities to promote collectivism amongst the ASU's membership.

REQUIRED ATTRIBUTES

  • Commitment to the Trade Union movement
  • Experience and/or ability to research and prepare industrial cases and to successfully represent workers before industrial tribunals and courts
  • Understanding of modern Union membership organising theory and techniques
  • Knowledge of the current Australian and South Australian industrial relations systems
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Advocacy skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Drivers' licence
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook, internet research)

Salary will be negotiated between $50,940 and $62,285 depending on skills and experience. In addition, private use of a motor vehicle or an allowance in lieu of the provision of a motor vehicle will be provided.
