Meet Shane Danaher

I'm Shane Danaher. I'm 36 yrs old and privileged to have worked in the Union movement for the past 6 of those. Before that I was an active Workplace Rep in banking, which helped me develop the knowledge and skills necessary for an Organiser role. The key thing I learnt as a Rep was that members and Reps in the workplace are the most important people in building Union in the workplace. Ask your mates to join if they support your concerns; it's the only way to improve wages and conditions and secure strong industries for the future!

Originally from Melbourne, I began my organising work there and was lucky enough to continue to work in the Union movement in Adelaide from 2006 which included working for the ASU and participating in the Your Rights At Work campaign during the 2007 election. I am now back in Adelaide for good after another four years in Melbourne. I am supporting ASU members again through the community services campaign and working together with members to build on its success so far.

It is great to be back 'home' and I'm keen to get out there to support and work with ASU Reps and members, to educate and empower workers to be a part of their Union to secure and improve wages and conditions and improve their industries and communities.
